I joined a rc forum a few months back as i was looking to buy my boy a helicopter for christmas, so after a bit of advice on the forum i decided to buy a used align trex 250 on ebay, when the helicopter turned up it wasn't like the sellers description so i went back on the forum and told them that i bought a helicopter and it had a bit of damage and i was thinking of sending it back but before i do i was looking for a bit of advice first, so i told them the damage and all the items the helicoper came with, I then asked what i should of paid for the helicopter, I then get someone post a link to the item i bought and said you had a really good bargin. So my question is how did they find what item i bought when i didn't give the link to the item i bought or my ebay id.

Long time eBay'ers are quite handy with the search facility. If you have bought a niche item it may be one of only a handful sold recently and you can narrow it down from there.
Or alternatively there is the possibility that the guy you bought from is also on the RC forumIt may sometimes seem like I can't spell, I can, I just can't type0 -
probably by searching on ebay for align trex 250 then narrowing search using the used item tab then narrowing again using completed listings.then looking at sold items and matching up what information you gave them as to what items the helicopter came with..0

It's normally very easy with niche items'The More I know about people the Better I like my Dog'

Here's the recently sold used items, http://www.ebay.co.uk/csc/i.html?LH_Complete=1&LH_PrefLoc=1&rt=nc&LH_ItemCondition=12&_nkw=align%20trex%20250&_adv=1&_dmd=1&_dmpt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&_fln=1&_in_kw=1&_ipg=200&_oexkw=&_okw=align%20trex%20250%20&_sop=12&_ssov=1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m1539&_udhi=&_udlo= found by searching align trex 250.
You obviously told them how much you paid, so easy to find.0 -

I didn't give them the price i paid for it so it makes me think the person on the forum is the one i bought it off.
I assumed that you had given them the price as they said it was a good price.
You can still narrow it down pretty well, by when you bought, or if anything else was included.0 -
Or you can search the description if you cut and paste a bit from the description it can be found that way. Also how long you've been on eBay can give it away, e.g. I've been on eBay five years and have over 100 feedback but still this happens, they could look through completed listings and see what you bought that way as well.0

A straightforward google search with key words and 'ebay' often bring up old ebay items.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
