  • Rather belatedly it LOOKS like Hastings is taking my complaints seriously.

    Jamie has informed me that there will now be a formal investigation of the case.

    I will keep readers informed about how this is proceeding.
  • Today I received a response from Hastings in which some interesting points are made.

    However, since the basic premise of their defence is flawed, I will be taking up the matter with the Financial Ombudsman Service.

    In the meantime, in view of the many people who seem to be aware as to how good Hastings 'service' is, it seems superfluous for me to state my opinion that if you want an insurer who, in the case of a claim, can add 2 + 2, STEER CLEAR OF HASTINGS!!!

    If you read the thread, you will find a comment from HD themselves. You know the usual empty platitudes you get from money grabbing corporate thieves.

    Yes, it was me, yes, I am still disgusted that they are still trading and yes, I am proud of the dozens and dozens of people I have dissuaded form using this disgraceful outfit.

    There is a reason they are cheap. :mad:

    I made a formal complaint to the Financial Ombudsman and WON.

    Hastings have amended the record of my 'insurance history' and paid me £100 compensation.

    Touchingly one of Hastings' letters concludes with: "We take all complaints seriously and monitor our procedures and practices in an attempt to prevent complaints and where a complaint is received we carry out analysis to try to prevent similar complaints arising."

    Since the basis of my complaint was that I was not listened to, and no relevant action was taken, regarding my complaint, readers may feel that Hastings are now going to listen when the policyholder (for whom insurance companies are supposed to act - yes, I suppose I am naive) says that the claimant is lying. However, I will not be putting that rather lofty idea to the test and will never go near them again.

    I still recommend potential customers to avoid them and if anyone has a problem with Hastings, as with any other insurance company - complain to the Financial Ombudsman Service
