thank you !!

I am sitting here crying, as I had my lightbulb moment yesterday ! I`ve been so worried about everything, and then I found this site . reading everyones stories has made me feel very positive, and with the snowball effect I should be more or less debt free in just over 4 years.

My problem was i just ignored the debt I had and just thought it will sort itself out. Its quite scarey when you realise how much you owe and where you have gone wrong!

I always had in my mind that money would come from somewhere and sort me out. Guess what, nothing came!

I've not got as much debt as most people on this site but it still scares the life outa me.

  • I know EXACTLy how you're feeling - I had my lightbulb moment a couple of weeks ago and I'm in a VERY scary place right now - not sure whether to take the IVA or DMP route.

My heart tells me a DMP is the way to go and my head (and my DH) think IVA is the way to go.

An IVA scares me becos it seems so rigid and as we've not missed any payments till this month I'm not sure they'll vote in favour. On the flip side the fact that CCJ's could be issued whilst on a DMP is a big worry, as are bailiffs plus I'll be paying it off for 10 years.

I just don't know whether I'm coming or going or which way I should go!

Sorry I'm waffling, just want to say I know where you're at, I don't feel much better about things anymore now than I did a couple of weeks ago - just feeling incredibly stupid for allowing ourselves to get into this mess.

Proud to be dealing with my debits although I have to admit I am scared half to death at how big a mess we are in.  Don't think I will EVER forgive myself for being so stupid!

Nobody is stupid here. We've all made mistakes and now we're putting things right. Give yourself a week or 2 and you'll start feeling much better.
