replacement VIN plate

I have a Puch moped that I want to MOT and put back on the road.

The VIN plate is however missing and would like advice as to how I can source a replacement as cheaply as possible.

Vintags.com want £40 which is a bit steep.

Anyone know where else I can get a VIN plate made up?

Many thanks in advance for any suggestions.

if all you need is a plate with the chassis number on then most engineering workshops will have a set of letter & number punches and will knock one up for you or even punch it direct onto the frame.

If you want a pucka one then you used to be able to get them from the dealers

What year is it? I think VINs are only checked for vehicles newer than 1980

The MoT tester always checks the chassis number on my 1955 car.

Only required on vechicled registered after 1st Aug 1980, but it's the easiest way of identifying the vechicle, and some MOT testers like to check, rather than go off the V5 or previous MOT details.
  • It is a 1977 model.

Part of the reason I would like to get a VIN plate is that I think it will be easier to sell it when the time comes.
