JSA/benefits and other stuff...

Hi guys,
I've been enjoying reading the forums, but I have a question based on my personal circumstances.
As a young male with no job, I have just begun to receive JSA payments. I also plan on making use of free dental care as I really need some work done and I can't afford it otherwise.
I am still living with my parents, I am 25 years of age, but my girlfriend (an EU national) will be moving to the UK in February at which stage I hope to have a job, and a place for us to live.
If I DON'T have a job by then, is it possible for myself to receive housing benefits? What about my girlfriend as a member of the EU but not the UK? It's hardly what I want, but she doesn't have the option of staying in her country any longer because her parents are struggling so much.
Many thanks for any help... I'd appreciate it!

Not sure what your girlfriend would be entitled to, but at the moment you would get the £65 per week shared room rate if you applied for housing benefit/LHA. And council tax benefit.
Don't forget if you rent privately you'll need at least a months rent in advance and deposit money. Try asking at your local council if they can help with this.Be who you are, say what you feel, those who mind don't matter, those who matter don't mind. They say that talking to yourself is a sign of mental illness. So I talk to the cats instead.0 -
Please see here http://england .shelter.org.uk/get_advice/homelessness/eu_and_eea_nationals/eligibility_for_housing_and_benefits for information about EU nationals.0
