Hi All,

I was wondeirng if anyone has come across this to help solve a mystery.

My car recently broke down on the way to work.

I have a 1.5 diesel renault clio, 06 plate.
Garage had a look on Monday afternoon, and did a manual test, and realised the no4 injector had gone, so ordered new part arrived next day. Fitted it, took it for a spin and it broke down before getting back to the garage. They then realised injector no2 had gone.
Today they got the part quite late and same happened, they ran out of time to test if any of the injectors had gone, and think maybe this is the case. But are quite puzzled as they say injectors normally go in 2's rather than 3's or 4's.

So they are going to have a look again in the morning, but in the meantime have no idea what the problem it is, and was thinking whether I put in the wrong fuel, but this is not the case, as i've done over 100 miles since my last visit to forecourt to fill up with diesel??

Any ideas anyone?
TIA

  • Could be duff fuel? Or you've put petrol in?

Injectors are a common fault on the Renault dCI's - but more so on the 1.9's to be honest.

the other thing Renault diesels suffer with is air in the fuel pipes.

    Thanks harveybobbles,

Saying that when I last filled up (defo diesel because I'm always wary of what I put in, check, double check, then triple check what it says at the pump!

But when I was filling up last Thursday night the pump was clicking quite early on when I was filling up, was making that clicky noise when fuel is almost full, (it was about £30 when it was making that noise) but I was filling it up still till about £60. Is that air in the fuel pipes??

I forgot to say, when they fitted new injectors it was bringing the pressure to 80 or 100 (i think thats what he said) but because of the pressure it was knocking another injector out!

was there any engine check light on when you took it in?

injector faults in the renaults throws up all sorts of signing and dancing lights on the dash.

as hammy said, the 1.5 DCI is pretty reliable unit that renault has, 1.9 has allsorts of injector problems that goes with it but 1.5 is a rare thing to have an injector fault due to use of different injectors and Engine management setup. i would look on the delivery of the fuel to the injector rail personally, have tested the fuel you have put in it for any contamination, and go from there.

ok, will tell the garage this in the morning, filled up at a tesco which I was passing on the way home, not filled up there before so not sure of the quality of the fuel!

    Thanks both x

PS when I was driving along the emergency stop light came on and something else, it was only for a second and went so I cant remember what it was. So switched engine off (stupid me), got out, did a check of tyres etc had a look couldnt see anything. tried to start engine and nothing!
