Surprised at my gas usage
Options
Checking my last two Scottish Power bills and helpfully it shows a bar graph to compare the same periods now and a year ago. My daily gas usage has fallen from 71kwh to 36 kwh for October and 67kwh to 41kwh so far this month. Electricity has been fairly static - just a touch lower.

Well there's that too! But the house does feel like its keeping its heat with no need for top up bursts0

This is the first year I can test drive the fully finished house.
New boiler, new insulation.
I am all set up for a really harsh winter.
I have two Calorgas bottles for a portable heater on stanbdby, even though it is virtually impossible for the internally run condensate pipe to freeze.
I want -10 degrees for Christmas.
Close the airports, I'm staying put to see how the house performs.0 -

He is right, this time last year it was snowing and around -5, this year is above average temps so far.
That's the reason you have not used as much this year, insulation doesn't perform that good, I'd say it takes years to get back what you pay for insulating your house.0 -
Looked back at the weather charts for first half of November last year. Surprisingly mild. Cold didn't come til the last week.0

You can only close them AFTER I have left for Florida on Xmas Eve. Then keep them closed indefinitely
My consumption is also less this year than last, it's not so much the daytime temps making the difference, but the long run of double digit nights. We haven't seen a frost here yet, but by this time last year we had seen dozens of frosts.0
