Parental income assessment

Somebody may have already raised this one but my daughter and I are getting a bit worried about the parental income assessment when she goes to uni in September next year. I'm a widow and currently receive widowed parents allowance which, along with child benefit and child tax credit, will stop when my daughter leaves sixth form college. As a result my income will drop quite substantially but everything I've read suggests that those benefits will be assessed as my income thereby reducing the grant/loan that my daughter can receive. Is this the case and is there a provision for me to ask that only current year income is assessed?

If you're receiving those benefits, chances are your income is below the threshold for maximum support even with them included in the assessment. It won't make a difference.
