internet crashes everytime i close a window

Not sure if any one can help. I have bought a new laptop which has wireless connection to internet. Everytime I am on the internet and close a window the connection is lost and i get amessage saying -

sorry for the inconvenience - a problem has occured - the programme needs

Can anyone give any advice as to how to stop this problem occuring?

Oh no - didn't change anything = internet still crashing

do have any browser helper objects installed? (extra buttons in IE)?

Do you have upto date a/v and antispyware installed, and automatic windows updates on?

i can answer this one - i have security package through BT and i do have automatic updates on!!!

As you have automatic updates turned on I'm guessing the problem is with IE7. Try running it with add-ons disabled and see if the problem occurs then. Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).

Also scan for malware/spyware using the sticky guide on this forum.

tried this and it made no difference!

tried this too. think a visit to my big bruv may be my answer. thanks for your advice though

if you run autoruns, and click the internet explorer tab, it will list any bho's
