I am in shock.
Have been awarded DLA HRM & LRC within 10 weeks of application - and without a medical ??
Slightly concerned that it says that in regards to care that I DO NOT need help showering, dressing, dwashing and drying myself, managing my medication because I clearly stated on form and in additional info that I cannot bend and my boyfriend has to help me into shower/bath, that I cannot bend to wash/shave legs/apply creams to legs/cut toenails/dry my lower half so he does this for me and I cannot normally dress my lower half on my own and the physio also advised them of this, and am NOT at risk of falling - I fall frequently!!
But don't want to get into the whole rigmarole of appealing etc.
I am so happy and want to thank everyone who has advised me on here and everyone who has ever posted links to useful tidbits of info and a HUGE special thank you in particular to Rogerblack who has answered my many pointless and rambling questions :A

well done, that was exactly the same scenario for me and I was awarded exactly the same rates as yourself without a medical, I truly and thankful to my doctor and consultant for my award for being so thourough with their reports they sent in.
Its lovely to hear the positive stories to give people some hope and let them know every case is different and not everyone ends up at a tribunal!0 -
I'd read so many horror stories that was expecting the worst tbh.
I'm just concerned now that have just applied for ESA as SSP ran out last week and wether they join the two applications up? with them writing the above ^^ about my care needs if ESA will query why i am not actually working?!Trying very hard to be frugal and OS - just plodding on and doing my best!

I dont have any knowledge of ESA but sure someone who does will be along shortly to give some advice, but DLA ist an out of work benefit so it shouldnt come into it, whether it does or not I dont know and hopefully someone can advise you, ESA is a whole different ball game compared to DLA isnt it so dont actually join the two up, two competely different compter systems etc0 -

I was awarded LRM & LRC last year & my award letter bore so little resemblance to what I thought was put on the claim form, I rang to clarify even though I was terrified the whole award would be cancelled.
The chap on the 'phone told me not to worry, the letter was computer generated & designed to be used as a generic reply . When we went through my notes he told me the decision had been based on what was said on my form & confirmed that extra stuff hadn't been added. I should say that I'm partially sighted & as they couldn't supply a large print version (why not?) a charity worker had filled it in so I never actually saw what was written.
I wouldn't worry too much about that letter. Congratulations on getting it all through so quickly - mine took almost 2 months & I was quite impressed with that!
I also get ESA(C) but claimed that a few months before DLA. I was told that DLA wouldn't affect my ESA claim, but I don't know if it is the same for ESA(IR). Think it should be, as I thought DLA didn't affect means tested benefits...And I find that looking back at you gives a better view, a better view...0 -
?It'll be contributions based ESA if I get it.
I feel the need for a nice bottle of wine to celebrate but I can't, bloody tablets!!
Is it wrong that my overriding thought just now is, I can afford to buy my boyfriend something for Xmas now and I can get a taxi to tesco!!?Trying very hard to be frugal and OS - just plodding on and doing my best!

But anyway, you can ask them to look at each section again when asking for reconcideration/appeal. ie you can ask them to look at the CARE side again.0 -
You can ask but they will still look at the whole award if they want to as is their right and they can either up the award, leave it the same or reduce the award, they have done all three in the past so its a gamble and one that only trixie can decide.
You were convinsed you would get nothing so it must be a relief to get an award without the hassle of appealing, well done.harveybobbles wrote: »Well done you!

Nope, I don't think so. A fair portion of my DLA goes on taxis ( and petrol money for the taxi-of-mum, and the electric bill for my scooter!) so why shouldn't yours? Going there just for a present would be a waste of taxi money in my opinion, I would combine it with looking at clothes and DVD's and buying a few food essentials (or perhaps not 'essentials', why not splash out this week and get some little luxuries?) and make an outing of it
- It sounds sad that going to the supermarket is considered an 'outing' for me, but there are lots of decent price things to look at, all under one roof, on a very even surface and the isles are nicely spaced. The only down side is my store is always packed! I have been known to tootle the 2 or so miles to Tesco on my scooter at 2am just because it's so much nicer (and my sleep patterns are quite messed up) :j 0 -

I have just been awarded HRM and LRC and it also said that I did not need help with the same things as you.
It was worded exactly the same in my award letter.
I was quite shocked to read my letter and it said that the decision had been based on my application and the visiting Drs report.
It didn't mention my GP's report.
I contacted DWP to get copies of the GP and visiting Drs report and was told that my claim had gone back to the Decision Maker to look at the additional information.NSK Zombie # SFD 7/15 Food Bank £0/£5
