van leasing

hello

my nephew is an unemployed electrician(21) looking to start up a buisness he cant get insurance on a van as he is quoted 6k for third party. he is floating the idea of going to a main dealer to buy a nearly new van with insurance included but i dont think he understands the true cost

does anyone know a lease company that would include insurance for a young driver or any ideas

regards

tony

If you read the small print on the "just add fuel" new vehicles you will see that he has to be 25 plus and have 3 years no claims (I think)

Also, Most lease/hire companies require you to be 25 or make you pay extra if you are 23/24.

6k for third party are you being serious?? I have always found van insurance to be cheaper than car insurance I suggest he shops around properly to get a better quote. I am presuming he is either a new driver with no NCB or has a terrible driving history.

As for buying new from a dealer not many dealers will include insurance on a commercial vehicle especially for under 25's and a lease is likely to be the same. The other issue is how will the finance/lease be paid if your nephew is currently unemployed?? I presume he is hoping to get a van to start up as an electrician?? If thats the plan taking out a huge loan for a van or being tied into a lease is a very bad idea as it will be a huge financial commitment and he'll be spending money on repayments when it would be better spent on advertising/tools/etc.
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.
  • Hi,

I just leased a van and the process was pretty simple. I'm actually 26 though so I'm not sure if they would have been quite as cheap had I been under 25. I also know you have to go through a lot of credit checks as well - especially if it's a new business.

I can't post links on the forum for some reason but the site was vanleasingquotes dot com

    Worth a check I suppose:

have you tried hiring a van with all the costs included, insurance/ved/maintenance, you could jointly hire the van with your son been a second driver, on the other hand he could buy a car-derived van (fiesta/escort/berlingo) as the insurance is much lower on these than the transit type, or if push comes to shove buy an estate car. (i've done this in the past and it works fine)

if you use go compare its quite easy to use, and you can enter your information once, and just change the van details, and compare them all at once.
