IVA finished but.....

I went into an IVA in August 2005, which had a F&F settlement offer accepted in Feb 2010.

I've used Experian before to check my credit profile, but wasn't convinced by what it showed me (a complete lack of information!).

Today, I've signed to Equifax, which seems much better, it found all of my accounts etc. Problem is, it's showing 3 accounts that were included in the IVA as in default.

So, how do I go about getting these defaults removed from my credit profile? Any help would be much appreciated.

What are the recorded default dates?

To be correct, they should be on or before the start date of your IVA. Which in turn means they should have already fallen off the report by August 2011.

There's 3 on my profile, one saying defaulted in 08/02/2006, the 2nd says 15/11/2005 and the last says 14/11/2005.

I started paying into my IVA in August 2005, but the creditors meeting wasn't until November 2005 (if I remember rightly). That's when they approved the IVA.

So what do I do now? Do I just need to write to each of them with a copy of the cert. of completion and tell them to remove the default from my profile? Do they have to do this within a certain amount of time?

The 2nd and 3rd don't matter, as they are about to drop off your file anyway. Takes a week or two with Equifax, so they should be gone before the end of this month. If they haven't then complain to Equifax.

The first one (08/02/2006) should really be changed top your IVA start/approval date.

But, even if you do nothing, that default and all account records will fall of your credit file in February.

You could ask the creditor to correct it, meaning it would come off as soon as they do. However, if the creditor acts slowly or drags their feet, then it may well fall off normally in Feb before they get around to changing it.

So I suppose you have to make the judgement call? Is it worth the bother trying to correct it when you know it will come off in Feb regardless?

I thought about that after my last post.

No real point writing to them seeing as it will drop off by Feb anyway. Will probably take numerous letters to get anywhere!

Equifax charged me £14.95 to see my profile, is that a monthly fee!!?

    Must be.

Make sure you cancel that ASAP if it's an ongoing agreement otherwise they will sting you for that every month.

All you really need is your £2 report. That tells you everything you need to know. You just get one of those as and when you need to check.
