Hi,
I bought a cooker from Argos in October 2005. The guarantee was for the standard year. Now the fan oven is not getting hot. I phoned the manufacturer who told me the parts are covered for 5 years but not the labour. I have to pay £80 call out fee and there will be no further charges. This sounds fair if the cooker is 4 years old - but not at 15 months!? Shouldn't it really last longer?? What do people think?? Thanks

unfortunately the heating elements in cookers can fail and do not necessarily last the expected life of an appliance
when this happeend to me, it was more cost effective to get an electrician to come and change the element - he sourced the part locallyBaby Milk Action is a non-profit organisation which aims to save lives and to end the avoidable suffering caused by inappropriate infant feeding.0 -

If it's not normal wear and tear, however, you can claim against Argos under the Sale of Goods Act that the goods are not of satisfactory quality and therefore you are seeking a repair.0

Yep as furrypolka says, go to Argos and hit them with the satisfactory quality / Sale of Goods Act stick and see if that works. If the manufacturers give a 5 year parts warranty then surely they expect most parts to last 5 years so 15 months would be rather rubbish?Little lady arrived 13/12/110
