Dealing with NO LONGER REGISTERED USERS

I am having problems with 1 particular item I am selling on ebay ....

The first time I listed the product it was won buy someone with no feedback so was wary anyway, I also noticed this guy was bidding all over the place on different items for vast amounts so reported him to ebay ( after nearly a week ) got a reply from ebay informing me not to deal & his account was suspended .... However the next day a cheque arrives from the buyer ( seems above board dated, signed ect ) so out of interest I have kept hold of cheque BUT I have now had it for 5 weeks. The thing is I have had NO contact from him asking why I have not presented his payment or asking when he can expect his goods.... Does anyone have any idea of the the SCAM hes trying to pull ( all I can think of is alot of my feedback thanks me for superfast delivery so maybe he thought I would deliver before cheque cleared )

I then relisted the item and it was won by someone with over 120 positive feedbacks with 100% rating .... no payment arrives so email buyer asking when I can expect it ....EXACT REPLY from them.... cheque was posted 5 days ago but why dont you take paypal this deal would have been done by now( I DO NOT give paypal as a payment option as I dont like it ) .... WITHIN 1 hour of me getting this message ...THEY ALSO have become NO LONGER A REGISTERED USER ... ( by the way 8 days have passed and still no sign of cheque they were supposed to have sent )

So ... IF payment does arrive as they are no longer registered DO I DEAL.
If I do ... I am assuming I WILL NOT be covered if anything goes wrong & could I get into trouble from ebay for outside dealing anyway

AGAIN is this person trying to pull a SCAM .... ALL advice or thoughts very welcome

Personally I'd send the cheques back to them. If they were both NARUed then it's probably with good reason.

And I'd consider using Paypal as well, at least on a trial basis. It's a lot easier than messing around with cheques and you have less chance of running into trouble with it. Despite all the Paypal horror stories you read, you will see that people on here have more trouble with cheques.
