Excess wires and plugs

We seem to have accumulated a carrier bag of wires etc. from things that we have bought over the years. The fact that some of are still in their sealed packets shows that we've never needed them.

Amongst the [STRIKE]toot[/STRIKE] items, there seems to be plugs for charging (although charging what, we don't know), wires that end with the plug that goes in to a USB port, wires with an end that look like they should go into the back of a stereo, BlackBerry 'European' plugs (we've never used) etc.

Anyway, my point is, can I take these anywhere to be recycled? It seems a real waste to chuck them in the bin.

Cheers, Birdy

Our local dump (sorry, "Household Recycling Centre") has an area for 'electrical items', though this is normally filled with TVs, computers etc. I'd phone the council or ask at the dump if it were me...

Only a carrier bag full? When we moved house last year we had the removal company do our packing. I noticed one box they brought in had been labelled "Lots of wires!" :D

Most local councils will have a recycling centre. Can always guarantee though, as soon as you get rid of them, you will need 1 particular cable which you then have to go an buy.

They go in the 'Small Electrical Items' bin at our local recycling centre.

Indeed, I have a rule that if I haven't used junk in a year then it gets recycled.

Then there is the 13-month rule... :)

That's why I have 24 spare 'kettle' type power leads. (Besides the 9? that are in use/plugged in). :rotfl:
Oh and 11 BT to router cables, had a bit of a sort out at the weekend.
    Move along, nothing to see.
  • Ah, but I go one beyond "spud17"
I get to the stage where I know that have got one of something that I need, stored away......but exactly where is it. It's somewhere in the house.... loft...... under the bed ......... garage..... shed...... errrr..............
Ususally I'll find it, most probably not long after I've given up and gone and bought another one

I somehow seem to have an infinite number of the old nokia 3310 type phone chargers despite ever owning one of those phones!

I try to label all my chargers so I know what they belong to - it's amazingly frustrating that the manufacturers dont!
