HI All
I know someone out here will be able to help me.. Well I hope.
What have/ are people doing about confetti, our church is fine for it but do you just buy it and leave it in a basket or should I do cones? I havent thought about it before and a quick search on ebay is making me a bit nervous we have approximately 80 coming to the church and the filled cones for 50 are £40!!! (which I have budgetted for)
Can anyone suggest a cheap way of doing this?

I bought 200g of petals from this seller on eBay

As we had an autumn wedding I mixed this with dried leaves (collected from nearby wood, hung up to dry for about a week) and had enough to fill about 70 cones, which I made out of paper doillies that someone was getting rid of at work. They were round, and I just made a cut and folded them into a cone shape, and stuck with double-sided tape. It was easy and the total for the 70-odd cones was £11 (petals and postage) plus the tape - that was it! I put them in a wooden crate (also free from in-laws) and we placed them by the door for everyone to take on their way out of church. As people walked down the receiving line they were clutching their cone and the ushers had them line up on each side of the path - then we walked through slowly with the photographer snapping away and everyone threw their confetti on us! It made for some of my fave pictures of the day!
Here's a link, hope this works

Zimm - what a lovely photo. Absolutely stunning. Love your dress as well.
On teh subject of confetti... we have lovely roses in our garden and I am hoping to dry some myself - once I have worked out how and how long before the wedding I can do this :rotfl:. Then I think I'll put them in some handmade cones and into a basket.0 -
Dont underestimate the fact that some people will bring their own confetti....but if you want to do something like a small basket for your guests then thats a really lovely gesture too...
if you have a small bridesmaid or other "small person" at the wedding you could give them a wicker basket of confetti to hold at the church door for anyone to have a handful to throw at the appropriate moment
If you do cones or bags of confetti you probably only need to allow a handful per female guest...men dont tend to partake in the tradidition of confetti throwing...or not at the weddings I've been to...the children especially love it so its a great time to get them involved.
Lots of photographers have a confetti shot usually towards the end of the formal pictures so theres plenty of time to get the confetti handed round to those who want to throw it...so the basket idea and someone handing it round works really well.frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

I made my own cones using leftover paper from the invites and some petal confetti off ebay. Total cost was less than £10 for 50 cones, the rest of the petals I put in the bottom of the basket to stick the cones in. Its so easy to do and I would recommend it as I love our confetti pictures. My wedding was the first of 7 I went to this year and only one other did the cones as well. For the others some people did bring confetti but I could count them on one hand!
Plus I was paranoid that if I left it to the guests I could end up with nasty stains on the dress (and on my skin) from the cheaper stuff. A friend of mine had this - it wasnt a good look on the wedding night and the dress was permanently stained so she couldnt sell it afterwards.0 -

Thanks Wanchai - I tried to put a few photos on the November thread but it wouldn't work. Is Flickr no good for posting individual images? The only thing to do would be to post the link to the whole album but didn't want to bore everyone to death!0
