    Many congratulations LittleP!

You should be rightly proud! I am about 6 months behind you in being fully offset on my mortgage. Am also about 4 years older than you!

I hope you think of lots of amazing things to treat yourself to.

    Well done once again

Congrats! Your story is inspiration, I'm hoping to have a mortgage next year but am already planning how to be mortgage free as soon as possible after.

Thank you bexter It is an amazing feeling and I don’t know about you but I have been more anxious and keen to get offset the closer I got. It feels like a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders where in truth the weight has never been that heavy. Good luck in you journey.

Lplatesaver. Best of luck in your journey. In my experience this forward planning you are doing will make the harder times of a mortgage free journey so much easier. Seeing how much interest you are saving and how much time you are cutting off feels fantastic.

After a couple of treats its on with the Early Retirement Plan.

    Morning LittleP

I confess I have been unable to gallop towards offset due to health problems recently. This has delayed my total offset from May this year to December ( so not too bad in the scheme of things!). More than anything I have just been so grateful to have worked as hard as I did so that having been ill, money hasn't been a worry. Although I don't have an Early retirement plan, I intend to leave a job I hate at the end of the year to set up my own business. This wouldn't really have been possible without getting mortgage offset.

I think any mortgage is a heavy load, especially when you pay it alone.

    Hope you really enjoy Thursday!

Good luck with the new business Bexter. I need to think about a new job at some point because this one is starting to grind me down a bit. The freedom of being mortgage free should liberate me from these shackles I have been trapped in for too long.

Its official anyway, I now have more money in my bank than I owe the bank, so after this month’s interest payment my mortgage will never be added to again.

Hurrah! I am thrilled for you!

You should definitely look to do what you want now you are mortgage free. It is the main reason I have worked so hard to pay my mortgage down, so I could do what I wanted. It is a huge achievement in your thirties, imagine having the rest of your life to do anything you want!!

I hope you keep posting about your treats and next moves, I would be keen to get ideas for treats and would love to know what you do next.

Enjoy your day ( and the rest of your life!!)

Bexter I have grand ideas of buying a static caravan in the Lake District so I think that will be treat priority one. Then my clothes are old and tatty (some over fifteen years old) so I need to refresh those.

Thanks Jodles. I was never destined to have a mortgage for twety-five years as I have a major fear of any form of debt so it had to go. It has been a hard slog but worth it without question, but to anybody doubting they can do it, don’t, I am single and on a below average wage and I have done it.

There is still the small matter of clearing the last £9,800 but being offset it most of the battle.

Hi Little P. A caravan in the Lakes sounds lovely, you could even rent it to family and friends if you wanted to cover fees. I confess my longer term plan is to buy a small place in Italy and rent my mortgage free place here. This could then be my retirement pot.

Have a lovely break enjoying your new found freedom

Well despite the fact that I am fully offset I have been digging through my house for stuff to sell on EBay. Last week I made £180.00 (after fees and postage) so that will go onto the mortgage, I have also started to get some interest out of my saving accounts so that will also go off of the mortgage.

Finally I have got 1.1% cost of living rise which will be going off of the mortgage.

The total stands at about £9500.00 but the next set of payments are due next week which will put the total at somewhere in the region of £9000.
