Social contracts for utility supplies
Options
I don't know if this subject has been discussed but most suppliers offer social contracts for customers who receive a form of benefits - this often offers supplies under standard charges. We saved over £20 per month by signing uo to Scottish Powers' Fresh Start social contract.
I also feed in meter readings on line monthly and receive an electronic bill; this alerts me to any potential surprises for rising bills. We don't skimp on heating as my wife is disabled and putting on another jumper is, sometimes, not an option.

As far as i am aware and i stand corrected if im wrong but the social tariffs that the big 6 have been using over the last few years are phasing out. the current scheme the warm home discount scheme is the one that is starting off with first payments being credited to customers accounts in mar/april of next year. there are several threads ive seen before about this new scheme and unlike the older schemes there is less scope for the utility companies to put customers onto the social tariff as the new tariff is heavily dependant on the customer receiving x and y benefits and being able to supply paperwork to back that up if requested.0

Could the OP state when they started on Fresh start and how long the contract is for or if SP are pressuring them to move off this tariff to another with WHD ?0
