It doesn't really matter where you back up to-DVD, USB flash drive, external hard drive etc. The point is to do a backup. It will take a long time to upload 25GB to online storage though. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Does the following sound quite logical:
Since I have spotted this infection quite early on, and at the moment isn't causing many noticeable issues, should I upload all my photos, word documents, videos and pdf files to ADrive (a free online data storage system, which has some decent reviews, especially since you get 50GB of free storage - it's funded by ads I believe, so it's free)?
I am taking the chance that since the PC acquired the virus yesterday, and no major issues are evident as of yet, then uploading these now, should be okay, especially since the most commonly targeted files seem to be program files, any executables, etc?
Anyway, if I do that, then what do you mean about the boot CD clean? Could I just run the Avast bootscan, then reformat Windows 7 (wipe clean) using Dell's factory image restore - both reformat and reinstall Windows 7?
Please correct me if you read anything you spot that might be a big issue. Bear in mind I don't have an external/internal DVD drive. I could theoretically buy one if it means a more effective way of treating the problem. I couldn't care less about losing any other files, so long as I can keep all my photos, videos and Word documents. I don't have anything else important that I would miss to be honest.
Many thanks in advance (I am a noob with this PC's).
I think I missed out that Ramnit is likely to spread to flash drives, etc, so I am thinking this is less likely with online storage backup - generally, to me it seems like it would be easier to readily cross over to the flash drive.
Please could someone explain what closed means. I really am quite a beginner, so the thing I am thinking of doing is to simply run an Avast Bootscan (how do I do this) and could I do an extra step to ensure security (closed talks about the boot cd - what exactly does this entail and how would I do it?), then upload my data online (just jpegs, but a few videos, and Word documents), and then finally reformat everything on my system using Dell's Factory Image restore (basically Windows 7 disc built into hardrive or something?). see this http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/kcs/document?c=us&l=en&s=gen&docid=DSN_336966&isLegacy=true
I would start at Step 3 in this link, as I am backing my stuff up online using the ADrive as I mentioned earlier - you have to pay quite a bit for the Dell Service I believe, and anyway it is a bit late for that one. So yeah, in addition to the Avast Bootscan, what else can I do prior to saving my photos, word documents, and videos online?
Would this be a wise move?0
