£399.97 Acer L100 Desktop PC and 19" Widescreen

What does everyone think of this PC?

http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.200-5243.aspx

I'm not too familiar with slimline machines, how easy are they to upgrade?

As it has onboard graphics, would I be able to add an additional graphics card? it doesn't mention if it has a free PCI express slot....

Its Acer and to be quite honest most of the repairs I carry out are on Acer machines, you get what you pay for.
  • what sort of repairs do they need. I always thought repairs on PCs where to fix stupid things users did.

Hard Drive failure is common so is Optical drive drawers quite common also but the worst is the loss of display drivers, not a major fix but a fix none the less and the build quality can be iffy at times, 1 good un and then 5 naff ones, oh yeah and the inbuilt wireless cards go !!!!!! once in while. :(
  • J, Can you recommend a good system if not Acer then? Something cheap but not so breakable..

Ummmm yes and no I mean if I said one good system is good someone else may say its pap, but I have had quite dood dealings with Compaq PCs and HP but its how much your willing to pay, also Dell aint too bad but the worst thing of all is all rubbish that comes bundled with any PC.
  • I hate my hp compaq laptop which has put me off buying that make again. I'm gutted that tesco one sold out. I like the idea of the small size, but SFF PCs seem quite hard to come buy - especially at a reasonable price.

Couple of days ago I helped my neighbour buy the Acer L100. It arrived today & is quite impressive. It's fast, compact, sleek & quiet - she's very pleased. I think they've run out of stock now though.

She went for it when her order of this 'Best Buy' similarly-specced PC (probably better value, & more upgradeable too) was cancelled by the retailer. G
