Consumer rights and iPhone 4 reception issue

hey guys n gals, just a quick question which hopefully someone can answer.

i got the iphone 4 on three back in january, on a two year contract. i'm ambidextrous so i could use the phone in my left or right hand, however i've recently developed a stiffness in my right hand so that texting or doing anything remotely dextrous with my right hand has become difficult.

i can text and write perfectly well with my left hand but while i'm texting the infamous death-grip manifests itself and my phone loses reception completely by the time i've finished writing the text/email.

i understand for consumer rights i should approach three as opposed to apple but i'm not sure exactly what they could do? i know the new iphone doesn't have the reception issue so i could use it in my left hand without losing my signal completely.

what do you reckon my consumer rights are in this case?

i suppose i could always sell the iphone and buy a 4s but i doubt i'd get very much for it in this inhosipitable climate.

thanks for reading!

Unfortunately you probably don't have much recourse with Apple or 3 anymore.
At the time the fault was found, Apple offered a free case to anyone affected which would remedy the situation. You can now purchase this case for ~£19.99.
Alternatively, you could turn your phone landscape when typing emails etc?

You will have no chance of Apple admitting they have a problem, why don't you book an appointment at your closest Apple shop and let them look at it.

You could always sell it and get an Android :D

Your holding it wrong. Steve Jobs said so...

i paid £30 for an iphone case which completely detracted from the whole aesthetic purpose of having the phone, and eventually the case didn't fit as snugly around the phone as when i had first bought it.

i had an android before and i liked it, better screen and more features. i don't see what the apple store can do other than "sorry, don't hold it that way"

my understanding was fit for purpose and reasonable time would extend for a few years, not just a few months?

if i type in landscape i can't see what i'm writing.

    oh well, i tried.

There have been rumours that the aerial was fixed in later iphone 4 models, you never know they may give you a new one which is better.

yes, some consumer group website has given the iphone 4s their endorsement whereas the iphone 4 didn't get one because of the antenna issue.

the issue i'm unsure about is whether i should be dealing with three directly or with apple instead?

The rumour was that the later 4's were much better that the earlier ones, of course the 4s is better still.

You should be dealing with three but Apple will be quicker and easier.
