    Sorry, I sympathise but it doesn't make any difference.
    You are still making a claim on your own insurance.

    It's a "No claims" bonus and not a "No blames" bonus.
    The insurer is interested in whether you will make claims and cost them money.
    They are not insterest in whether it's your fault.
    Sorry but it's a a business to them and therefore all about money at the end of the day.

    "Fault" in an insurance companies eyes is based on if they get their money back or not.

    If the person that drove into your car (or more accurately their insurers) pay back your insurers their outlay then it will be a non-fault claim on the policy. Each insurer writes its own underwriting rules but for the majority this would not effect your premium unless you have had a lot of non-fault claims.

    If the other party failed to give you their details/ is uninsured and unable to pay/ disputes the circumstances then your insurers may not be able to get back their outlay and so it would be a fault claim. Direct Line did some high profile adverts not that long ago saying that they wont count hit and run cases as fault accidents but they are in a minority
