Hi all just wondered if anyone would know
if i had a cover plan on a cooker that is now is a sorry state, but had it serviced withthe cover plan people, only to be told it is unrepairable due to cooker lid being damaged in transit. therefore they must replace product, problem is the cooker was £999 when bought and is now on sale at £699, the letter asking me to go to my nearest store and where i could choose my new cooker or replacement to the value of £699 shouldn't i get the full value of the cooker at the time of purchase, or not ??

No, you get a like for like replacement and as that costs £699 that's how much you get to spend.0

There is another way to look at it.
If you originally spent £999 on the cooker but since then the price had risen to £1299, you would rightfully expect £1299 from the coverplan providers to enable you to purchase a like for like replacement item.
It normally works the same if the cooker has reduced in price. What you are being offered is a sum of money that will enable you to make a purchase that will ensure that you are put back in the same position as if your cooker hadn't needed replacing.0 -

I'm not exactly sure what the issue is here, or perhaps you were just asking for advice.
KnowHow (I assume you purchased it from Currys/Dixons) uplifted your cooker for repair and they damaged it in transit, causing it to either cost too much/take too much time for them to repair it and because they still stock the same cooker (albeit at a £300 discount) they contacted you saying what happened and gave you the voucher reference number to take into store to either purchase the same one that you previously had or another of your choice?
Hermione is right, the Coverplan (or Whatever Happens as it's called now) states that outside the first year if a item has to be replaced they will (usually) give you a voucher reference number to what a equivalent one costs new, regardless of the price difference.0
