  • Thanks for the tips -though ibelongtoguy I can't imagine wearing my ski boots on the plane! Not even sure they would allow it ?
  • I would take meat free mixes, pasta, garlic salt, dried hard cheese for sprinkling on pasta, dried mixed veg, dried mushrooms, dried sun dried tomatoes, vesta meals,

Asda do the biggest range of meat free packets, such as meat free chilli mix, bolognaise mix, Lincolnshire sausage mix, burger mince, nut roast mix, etc so if you could get a bag of soup mix, a handful of dried veggies and mushrooms you have a warming stew to serve with instant mash.

pasta with a knob of butter with garlic salt is cheap and tasty or marmite pasta

Jam comes in small packs .....the sort you get in hotels and I get them from B&M stores and I think marmite comes in this handy size too.
Have a look on the approved foods website and see if they have anything like that on offer if you don't have a B&M near to you.

I would also take something like short grain rice for a rice pudding or it can be used as a substitute for risotto rice add dried mushrooms and garlic and you have another tasty meal.

What about a birds eye trifle for a tasty treat.

I agree with the batter mix you can make so many things with it such as pancakes, yorkie puds or filled savoury pancakes topped with an instant cheese sauce and a dash of hard cheese from the packet.

    Cheats uber cheap creme brulee
in the bottom of an oven proof dish put a layer of jam, fresh or dried fruit, top with instant custard, sprinkle with any sugar that you have and put under a grill until the sugar has caramelised.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
