Quick Q:
Do you have to pay an excess if someone claims against you but you don't claim yourself and an accident is deemed to be your fault?

Hi - under a comprehensive policy the excess only applies to damage to your own car so you do not have to pay anything towards the claim made against you.
If your cover is third party fire and theft you do not have to pay any excess towards the claim made against you.

To add a word of caution... normally this is a case. There are a few insurers that have been talking about introducing excess for third party claims so always check your policy documents. All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers
