                    Hi,
I had quotation from Homebase for a dining table with 6 chairs which was on promotional price of £249.99 and on that weekend they were offering extra 15% off so my quotation was for £212.49. I went in store next day to place an order but it was out of stock so couldn't place an order but one of the staff member told me quotations are valid for 60 days so if it comes back in stock within 60 days, I can place an order.
Couple of days before I received a call from homebase store that item is back in stock and I can place an order if I want but now price at the quoted price (price has gone up to £499.95 now). Because I wanted only 4 chair I asked the staff member if I can change this and he said yes your quote will be valid and we can workout the same level of discount on 4 chairs and it will cost me £169.95 so far so good I was so happy. But when I went in the store to place an order they didn't accept the quote and kept saying now prices has gone up we can't do at the quoted price. I explained everything that your colleague called me and here are the quotations which clearly says it's valid till 60 days so I should be able to..but they won't listen to me and said we don't put 60 days kind of thing, we always put particular date. After a long discussion with branch manager they agreed to place an order at the original promotional price dining table with 4 chairs @ 199.95 and 6 chairs @ 249.95...but they won't apply extra 15% discount...I asked what if I don't want to change anything in quote and place an order can I get at the quoted price but they denied it saying maximum we can do is the above prices (199.95 and 249.95) so I gave up and placed an order for dining table with four chairs at 199.95 but since then I'm thinking what are consumer rights on this occasion and why should I pay extra £30?
Can I take this matter to homebase complaint department or any official body and get the thing at the quoted price?
Can I highlight that their colleague told me that I can change the order down to 4 chairs and they will apply the same discount and ask them to do so because you advised me?
Please note that I don't have quotation papers now because I handed it to store advisor and placed an order I didn't bother to ask them but it will be still there on their system. I know I should have been more careful.
Please advice.
Thank you.

If you have no paperwork or any evidence of what they originally said then it will cost you way more time and effort than would be worth it for the sake of £30.
Put your complaint in writing if you wish but don't expect it to get you anything more than you already have (which is a small victory in itself judging from what you mention they originally said).
Edit: If you do put it in writing try and keep it short, clear and concise (your post above is confusing and difficult to read).Thinking critically since 1996....0
