Redundancy whilst on maternity leave

Ive just been made redundant whilst being on maternity leave! I've got PPI and MPI. They wont pay out until i'm signed up as a job seeker with job centre! I cant do that until i'm finished maternity. Its not my fault this has happened whilst on maternity leave and i am unable to look for a job. Is there anything i can do to get my protection to pay out?
Thanks

Have you asked at the job centre? Perhaps you can sign on and claim the rest of your maternity pay as maternity allowance?? Its the same amount per week as far as I know, and those that arent working get it.
Cos even if it wasnt needed for the PPI etc, surely you would want to have a job secured for when your maternity ends, not just start looking at that stage. There may be some sort of form you can sign that says you are looking for work without claiming a benefit for it??0 -

Have you been employed there for over a year? Are you satisfied that the redundancy was handled correctly? It is very difficult (although not impossible) to make someone redundant while they are on maternity leave and do it fairly.0
