  • Have a look at https://www.supersalve.co.uk

If you send them an e-mail they will send you a sample of their product. The cream smells a bit like deep heat but not so strong. My husband is very pleased with this cream.
  • I got a free 50ml bottle of SkinSure antibacterial moisturising lotion from
    http://www.hygieia.uk.com
which lasts for ages it is soothing and waterproof
they do all sorts of skin lotions - daily ones and advanced ones

I used to buy calendula cream thats very soothing and effective as well.
A bargain is something you don't need at a price you can't resist :j
  • Thanks KeelyKat my son is only 2 also and it's awful to see him so red, sore and itchy. I don't know anything about this condition or what to do for him. I will take him back to Doctors but to be honest they are not at all concerned about it. I dread bathing him because it makes it much worse. I bath him also in Aqueous cream but as he is so young he needs bathing alot. I have had alot of help with the links people have given me on this site. Hopefully when I start getting the samples through I will find the right one to help him.

Thankyou to everyone also for all your replies they have all been very helpful.

Myself and daughter (18 months) have eczema and we both use Double Base, comes from gp in a huge bottle with pump. Also for areas on her skin which look paricularly 'angry' they gave me Hydrocortisone (to be used very thinly for two or three days to take the redness any itchiness away), then its back to double base all over her body. Don't take no for an answer from the doctors. Every doctor seems to have different ideas which can be a right pain, you know your child best.

I forgot to say that in between using the cream the dermatologist prescribed me, i have to use a steroid cream on the angry/nasty parts that flare up. Doctors arent keen on young children using too much steriod creams though as there can be side affects.

    bloomin freezing

What do you think of doublebase, I use it and find it average at best. It takes quite a bit of it to remove the flaked skin look that comes with exzema.

Just want to say that this is a good idea if you get free prescriptions-but if you have to pay, its not worth asking for this. I have been given a different kind of moistouriser on prescription which works even better (and is a big bottle with a pump on top to dispense the correct amount). Also dont just do to your doctor asking for this, hoping to get a freebie- only do it if you genuinely have a skin problem such as eczema (not saying anyone on here would do this though, just a warning). I hate people who waste doctors time (there are people out there who think its ok to make up things and try to get stuff for nothing).

Hello again, just like to say that i emailed the people at skinsure.co.uk (hygieia), and asked for a sample but apparantly theyve run out because loads of people have been asking after seeing an advert on tv.

However got a quick response from supersalve, saying they'd be more then happy to send me a sample so pleased about that one.

  • Sorry no info on any free samples but to let you know that Bachs Rescue Remedy cream is very effective on eczema. I've used it on my 2 year old DS's skin and it cleared up some eczema, although I don't use it any more because it is expensive.

But I'd suggest going back to the doctors as there are many creams that they can use and you may have a little trial and error until you find the one that is suitable for your DS. You could also ask to be referred to the eczema clinic, where the staff specialize in the area.

    Good luck.
Cos I don't shine if you don't shine.
