Hurrah for the Ombudsman!!

I had a longstanding dispute with British Gas over credit on my prepayment meters when I changed supplier (Last November). Despite numerous phone calls and 3 letters, I appeared to be completely invisible to BG.

I warned them in July that if I did not get my refund I would be seeking further advice, and in August contacted the Ombudsman.

Told my story and filled in forms etc. Received a call today, they found in my favour, and BG have to pay me my money back - hurrah!! Its only taken a year!!

British Gas at one point refused to acknowledge that I had ever been a customer...I told them I was glad I no longer was!!

The Ombudsman has been very helpful, I would definately recommend to anyone with problems to contact them.

Must confess I'm rather more sceptical of the Ombudsman personally but well done on your victory!

That sounds typical of BG. When I got rid of the prepayment meters here they told me to run the credit down as it would be lost. It wasn't. I got it credited to my account eventually but it did take some effort on my part.

Update - good old BG, trust them to balls it up.

Received my cheques, both incorrectly completed, so cue a number of phone calls, return the cheques and await the cheques to be re-issued in MY name. Is it too much to ask for goodness sake!!!
