Temporary insurance for a 3rd car is it possible?

Any advice would be well received on the following......
Have 2 cars (1999 Peugeot 306 2.0HDi+ 2001 Ford Galaxy2.3i Ghia).
I am insured for the peugeot and my wife with the galaxy.
I have 0 claims discount although have been on my wifes insurance for 16yrs.
My wife has protected no claims but has made a claim in dec 05 when she ran into a deer and wrote off a previous car.
About to buy a replacement for the galaxy - a 2001 picasso SX 2.0Hdi (need 2 cars so can't wait till galaxy has sold hence reason why we will have 3 cars for a short period of time).
What is the best way and cheapest method to ensure that all are insured?
The Galaxy is currently on a monthly payment for insurance with esure and due for renewal in july07(have learned from this board and made sure that my insurance for the peugeot was paid upfront and saved myself from 30% charge).
Current quote for 3rd car (picasso) is £184.00 through the post office but also get £50 back so really £134 for the year(using wifes NCD). Peugeot for me was £242 for the year through localbroker.
A lot to take in but essentially I am asking can we change the galaxy to remove my wifes NCD to apply to the Picasso and insure the galaxy for 1 or 2 months until sold? or will insurance companies offer some other deal? or none at all?
A bit confused..... from Fife.

I brought a nearly new car at auction a few years ago. The auction centre was a good 80 miles from home, so my wife drove us down in my car which she was down as a named driver.
When I collected the car I rang Direct Line to confirm the details of the new car, and they swapped the policy over.
They then gave me 30 days cover on the old car for about £20.
Apparently you can add temporary cover for one vehicle to a lot of policies, but I think you may be restricted to 30 days.
Do as I did though, and ring them first.....0 -

My wife tried this earlier today but it is going to cost us £75 for the month and the cover on the new car is about £100 more than our cheapest quote :-(
So much for Esure being cheap.0
