The hifi amp must be buffering the signal for some reason. Might be worth digging through the manual to see is there are a range of setting, or trying a different set of inputs in case they're treated differently.0

If there's some signal processing of the voice channels going on, you might get problems with lipsync(h).
For examples, on DAB radios the time signal pips are about 2½ seconds later than those on FM radios.
(Another reason why DAB is useless!)0 -

The pips on a Freeview box are around a second behind FM. And Freeview HD is about 2 secs behind plain Freeview. It gets danged echo-ie (Eh?) 'round here sometimes.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
LipSYNC. What is your amp, what is your Sony TV, and how are they connected - HDMI ARC, optical digital, or phono?
As above if it's a surround sound amp, it may be adding effects (processing) which can cause a slight delay. This has been a problem for years, and as such, your TV or amp may have settings to adjust this very thing.0 -
Sony KDL 26P30XX.connected phono from the tv aux socket to an external stereo amp which is a Cocktail audio X10. there is no amp setting to adjust. the delay is quite substantial I would estimate 3/4 sec or possibly more. In the tv manual it states you can connect the audio o/p to an external amp but it don't tell you it won't work properly."Imagination is more Important than knowledge"0

The amp wouldnt have a feature as the system needs to delay the picture to compensate for the processing the amp is doing on the sound and the amp doesnt have the picture being sent to it.
The TV may have a delay feature but I suspect not. Do you have another basic amp you could use to see if it is the TV or the Amp creating the delay? I'd be surprised if it is the TV given there shouldnt be any significant processing to get sound to the preouts but at the same time most stereo amps dont process either to create a seconds delay0 -
check the TV under audio settings see if their is a setting for audio timing (or audio sync)
otherwise the delay is due to the time taken for the TV to send audio to the amp and for the amp to process it.
On and the "delay" between FM and DAB is due to the fact that the DAB transmission has to travel a bit further.
From the studio to the location of the Digital Encoder Servers then out to the Transmission towers where as FM goes straight form the Studio to the towers. This is happening in real time and can cause a 400-800ms delay and your radio can take another 400-800ms to decode the signal (not including any signal buffering required).
You get the same effect if you watch a TV show that's on your TV and same live program on your Mobile. their is a second or so difference between devices..Laters
