Good afternoon people-
Got my renewal for Homecare through last week for £260.73
Did the usual and they lowered to over the phone to £234.66 and said to me if you go and get a cheaper quote we'll try and price match.
So went digging about and uswitch came up with-
1) Scottish Hydro 'Shield' -£185.90 (11 x £16.90) and they give first month
free.
2) Scottish Power- £202.80 (12 x £16.90) same as above but no
free month.
Phoned Scottish Gas and they have agreed to price match the Scottish Power quote but they can't match the Hydro one with the free month.
I think i'll stay put as they are offering a saving of approx £60 compared to original quote. I will also have continual cover and not have the hassle of changing and having overlapping policies just to avoid exclusion periods with new policies.
Any existing users beat £16.90 per month for Homecare 200??
Info-i have a Vokera boiler which is approx 14 years old and have been with homecare for nearly 4 years in this property. Only called them out occasionally ( last time november last year for intermittent hot/cold water).

cheapest price they will price match is £16.50.
remember SPower dont employ their own engineers, and there are quite a few nasty threads on here just now about Scottish Powers homecomfortPromo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?0 -
Thanks for that-
Didn't realise that about SP engineers but don't really want to get into that debate. Same as some people on here think it's a complete waste of money buying it but for me personally with 2 young (one at 6 months) i weighed it up and have had if for a few years now over 3 different properties. I think approx £200 a year incl the service is fair value. Everyone's got a different take on it i suppose.
Don't get me wrong i look forward to the usual 'are you aware some parts can't get now, you need a new boiler mate, you need a powerflush mate, blah blah blah.' Response-shut up mate just fix/service or condemn the thing and i'll buy a new boiler when i NEED to.
ps-that reminds me-need to hassle the wifes uncle. He is a plumber and has the stuff in the house for a system clean. He says it doesn't take too long to do. He doesn't come with a lifetime guarantee but nothing is a better price than £600/700 at my last quote. Now that's the real rip-off not the homecare imo.:D0
