And you're calling them con men?!?

Fortunately, both my children have the same three initials as I do as well as the same surname so I only have to sign with initials and I challenge anyone to say it's not a genuine signature.

I challenge anyone to read the terms and conditions on the loan companies website before signing up.

Unfortunately they don't bother, despite the years and years of warnings about these types of companies. People are lazy. And dim.

It's good your 21 year old still has their family bailing them out.

  • I've been bailing them both out since they first filled a nappy! And probably always will.

Good to know they're learning to deal with the consequences of their actions themselves.

He's not going to be able to do much about it himself whilst he's in the middle of Helmand Province, is he? He might even have a problem finding a Post Office that does recorded delivery out in the desert!

Fair comment - BUT - he managed to contact them all by himself when he was looking for a loan, i assume via the internet. Their terms and conditions will have been available for him to look at on their website, especially the bit about cancelling. If he was unable to cancel in writing why did he go ahead and give them his card details ? I have always looked out for my son too but there comes a time when they have to stand on their own two feet, you need to let him sort this one out himself.

As I explained earlier - he thought he was getting a quote for a loan for a new car. They told him his bank details were to verify who he was - that's a con he will not fall for again, I'm sure. He's already said that much of the tour is mind-numbingly boring so I guess he was just passing some time. However, I'm not prepared to let some scrote take nearly £70 from him whilst he's out there risking his life.

  • The issue has now been resolved. Since posting previously I checked my sons bank statement further back than the bank manager checked (he only checked about 10 transactions on his screen) and found that they had taken out £69.75 from his account.

I wrote to them recorded delivery stating that the company were not doing as promised and requested a full refund otherwise the case would be taken to FSA and OFT.

The money was paid back in full into his account on 29th November.

Thanks to everyone on here for their help.

    Good result - well done.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.
