in Loans
My 21 year old son is in the British Army and last month went on his second tour of Afghanistan.
Whilst he is away, I'm looking after all his affairs, and today a letter arrived from Power Loans saying they have debited his bank account with £69.75 as a 'membership fee'. I thought he had more sense than this but that is beside the point.
I've searched all over for a copy of a letter to send to this bunch of scumbags but can't find one anywhere.
Can anyone direct me to where I can find a sample letter to send off in his name tomorrow to try and get the money back. Or advice on what I should say to them.
Thanks

I don't know. I just want to try and get him the money back."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0

Has he confirmed that he didn't approach the company and agree to the payment?I've got a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.0

The problem is that, if he sent them an application on the internet, he almost certainly agreed to pay them the membership fee.
Their application form says "By clicking Proceed I agree to Power Loans.com Terms & Conditions" and the T&Cs wording links to :
http://www.power-loans.com/terms.aspx
Section 5 says that a one-off joining fee will be charged to his debit/credit card.
He must have "clicked Proceed" in order for them to have had his card details and thereby he has agreed to pay them.
Unfortunately, I agree that they look like the usual "Suggest Everything but Deliver Nothing" type of loan arrangers, especially from the list of get-outs included in Section 7 of their t&Cs
There are several adverse comments about them on the Net, Googling will locate them.0 -

He's the first one I thought of when I posted this thread."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
Why do you think he might have wanted a loan?"Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0

I've just had an email from him. He thought he was getting a quote for a car loan for when he comes back from Afghanistan."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
there all crooks sounds like the famous EASYloans who are still trading, theres loads of posts on here about accounts being debited, [trust me i got done same amount]
and once they have your money i doubt you will get back unless you are very very good with letters, in the case of easy loans i not sure weather anyone did get there money back?
they certinly make it very hard then they tend to be full of empty promises, or of course unless its a proper visa card, in which case he could do a charge back i think?
i have a debit visa card with lloyds and even though i didnt give permission lloyds wouldnt get me money back as i had given my details to them?
it was a very expensive lesson, one which i most certinly do again.0
