Hiya, I realise I'm probably 10years behind everyone. I've just realised I need to switch my gas and electricity!

Currently I am with scottish power for both my gas and my electricity, I have pre-payment meters for both, as I ran up arrears a few years ago.
Electric arrears are paid, and I owe £90 on my gas, which I can clear now.

I want my pre-payment meters removed preferably, and a cheaper tarrif. Can anyone recommend me someone?

I put £40 a month in the electric, and £100 a month in the gas (winter) £20 of the gas is off the arrears. Scottish power want a £300 deposit (refundable after 12mths) plus £107.90 for the new meters.

I dont mind keeping the meters if I can get my gas at a cheaper rate, as the extra costs will obviously eat up some of the savings.

I've just spoken to british gas, they said meters are free (subject to credit check) which is obviously better but I think I've missed an important detail! I havent asked anyone how much they charge for electric/gas per unit!! Is there a chart or something, that compares prices?
