I changed from gloss to water-based satin for this very reason, it doesn't smell, doesn't have a high gloss finish (I prefer a gentle sheen) and it's as white as when I painted the skirtings and bannister 2 years ago. The skirtings I painted with gloss have yellowed.

i've just switched to dulux ecosense paint for my customers , it doesn't have the brilliant shine of a solvent based gloss , but it is easy to apply , has a reasoanble sheen to it , plus it won't yellow , and of course it doesn't smell as bad as solvent and dries quicker , get used to it , it's the way paint is going , we're way behind other countries paint technology
