Also have a look at Cooperative Energy, they have £50 off first bill for sign ups before 9th December.
I switched in July, they have one tariff and no exit fees.0 -
Who cares who own the shares? No big company is fully owned by people of one nationality any way.
You would do yourself a favour by letting go of this medieval way of thinking, and just look at who offers the best value for money.0 -
The reality is that all the big 6 are international energy companies. It just so happens SSE and Centrica have their headquarters in the UK. Both of them are in practice owned by their shareholders (who are not necessarily British), but both have substantial operations abroad.
RWE, E.ON and Iberdrola are all owned by shareholders and happen to have headquarters in Germany or Madrid.
The only exception is really EDF which is 80% owned by the French government which exerts significant levels of control over it.
They clearly haven't told them to ANSWER THE &^&%$(* PHONE then.0 -

SSE are the only BRITISH supplier out of the big 6 and the uk's largest provider or renewable energy.0

SSE's 'green' credentials come about only because they happened to inherit a lot of Scotish hydro-electric capacity. They're not particularly active in creating any new renewable sources.
And what makes BG non-British? Centrica may have US interests, but it's still UK-based.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
