When I was an underwriter, I was very cautious with anybody who regularly used cash advances. Often a sign of poor financial management.

But they were usually combined with rising card balances. Not balances fully cleared by the next due date.

Was that your view or company policy?

I've noticed that entries for Creation-issued cards have no provision in the credit agency entry for cash advances. Merely states credit limit, balance and payment history, whereas my NW card states the above, plus cash limit, number of cash withdrawals, and amount of them.

Creations policy? They keep shoving cash advance flyers in the post every week. Bin fodder I call it ;)

yeah i had 6 months 0% on £400 cash if I wanted, think not
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

While I was doubtless brainwashed, both. My view today is along the following lines:

Cash advances + rising debt = massive risk.

Cash advances + stable debt = risk.

Cash advances + reducing debt = odd, so risk.

Cash advances + no balance carried forward = low risk.

Cash advances (with fee) + no balance carried forward = sort your money management out, but low risk.
