Economy 10 is it cheaper

Hi

We have only got Electricity coming in to the house and have SSE's economy 10. Although this gives us 10 hours of off peak usage we do not know if this is actually any cheaper than changing to another energy provider whose rates are cheaper overall. Can anyone help please as there seem to be so many web sites and so much information out there it does get a little confusing!

I suggest you put your annual kWh figures into an accredited comp site and check. Assuming that you have night storage heaters, a dual rate tariff is going to be the most economic.

Presumably you have storage heating?

There is no 'one size fits all' answer. It depends on your pattern of use - in all day or out at work etc. Even how late you stay up at night etc

For instance if you are home during the afternoon(usually) cheap rate period you can put on heavy consumption items at that time(dryer, oven, dishwasher)

Also you need to see if Economy 7 rates will be better suited to your pattern of use.

Theres Economy10 and Economy10.....The important thing is to have metering that is compatible with the type of heating in the property.

More info needed on the heating you have.
