Hi,
I have recently sold some kids clothing online at super cheap prices, i need the space, I described everything in great detail & all my buyers were happy, phew!
Now I have listed a lot more, can I email my previous auction winners to say thanks for the feedback glad you liked, you may be interested in my latest auctions <insert link>
I don't know if it's good netiquette
I supect not but I know I am selling things very cheaply of high quality & I know myself I prefer to buy off people I have bought off in the past, if you know what I mean.
Cheers:beer:

have you tried raising the question on the ebay forum........
personally i have done the exact type of thing,
ie sent a message via ebay to possible bidders, about new auctions i have listed.....smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to....

What you're suggesting is against ebay policy, is considered spam and if reported, could result in your account being suspended.0
-
But if it's listed as an auction (on eBay) why is it wrong? Am I missing the obvious?0
-
just say something at the end of your 'thank you' email like "be sure to check out my other auctions here [link]"
I personally include a note with the product saying 'thanks..please leave feedback...email address for queries/complaints/suggestions...+'check out my other auctions!'

I don't see a problem if you want to contact them outside eBay and tell them about things they might be interested in.
I had someone ask me if I had such a dvd for sale, well I had not at the time but I would be sure to email him back if I did get it in the future.0 -

The problem is that it is against Ebay's rules
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/rfe-spam-general.html
"eBay policy prohibits members from sending spam. Spam is defined as email that is both unsolicited and is commercial in nature."
"Disciplinary action may range from a formal warning, up to indefinite suspension of a user's account."0 -
As the others have already said contacting potential buyers is considered spam and will result in you receiving a warning if any of those buyers report you.
On one of my secondary ids I have recently been bidding on some DVDs that I am desperate for but they are going too high for me to win. However I have received tons of spam email, some offering me details of their auctions, some where I have been outbid telling me they have just listed more if I am interested, and a couple of really bad ones telling me they can run me off a copy of the ones they have...for a price!
I just sent the whole lot into ebay to deal with and received back the standard ebay response telling me that I should report all unsolicitied mail to ebay with headers so that they can take appropriate action.
I know I want these DVDs so I have the category watched on ebay, why on earth do I want buyers contacting me direct to draw my attention to their auctions? It certainly makes me think twice about dealing with sellers that use spam as a means of communication.
Having said that if someone wins an auction from a seller that seller is able to ask them if they want to go on a mailing list, however that has to be an opt in option, you cannot contact them otherwise.

Why not get some business cards printed up at vista print (can get cash back via greasy palm) with your ebay id, put on the card something like new stock added frequently and to keep checking against your id? Include this in your package when you post out and hope they look in the future, this seemd to work fine for me but i promoted my website onthe card and had good sales from this
worth a shot as the free cards only cost aroun £3 ish to post out (250cards)
good luck

I like the idea of business cards included in the packaging as if the buyer wants to know more they can actively email and ask, and if they don't, they can just ignore the card.

Thanks I'll keep that in mind.0
