    £35 in Bank Fashion sale

As above, OP bought bank fashion. But its the same jacket as far as i can see. Pretty sure bank had RRP as £70 too.

No dry cleaning mentioned on that link, perhaps Flyboy152 is right.

If the jacket has washing instructions and the web site states dry clean I would say that strengthens the Op's dispute.

On top of which, it is bit unusual to see cleaning instructions so prominently displayed on a web listing. My guess is that the OP is not the only one to have had this issue. The type of garment discribed is not something that I would automatically assume needs to be dry cleaned.

Well I would agree if bank had it listed as dry clean only but OP complained to bank, not to manufacturer.

Although my reason for posting about dry clean only was as above, it could strengthen the OP's case. If makers website says dry clean only but the garment doesnt, I would personally say the washing/care instructions are "faulty".

  • Many thanks Have now rang Bank again after having looked at website at the exact jacket I have bought saying dry clean only. The label on this jacket does not say that. Waiting for a manager to ring me back now Fingers crossed

  • Still no phone call from Bank but it got me thinking so I rang criminal damage and although the jacket that said dry clean is not the jacket I have bought only realised as I spoke to customer services at criminal damager. I explained the situation to him and he said they should have given us a full refund and that I can send the jacket to them and they will exchange it. This is what I will do as at least I will have a new jacket and hope fully I will keep this one ok. Thanks to you all for helping as it is very much appreciated

Well done CD, bad form BF. Glad you got it sorted though.

I should've actually asked if you contacted the manufacturer. Although your contract is with the retailer in SoGA cases, sometimes the manufacturer are the easier route :)

  • Frankly, in terms of washing, I don't see how an inspection can ever determine what temperature a garment was washed at (unless it's melted perhaps!).

    For wool, its very easy.
