When my gran was 90, the family put together a scrap book for her, with pictures of her throughout the years and also the family growing up.

We had a surprise party and had a guest book which went to gran after the party.

She ended up with some lovely memories both of the day and her life.
We may not have it all together, but together we have it all

How about a nice fleecy throw or rug for her knees, a beautful comfy cushion or name a rose after her. How about a visit from a mobile hairdresser?
My lovely MIL was 85 recently and the whole family got together for lunch at a nearby hotel that had easy access. MIL was thrilled and treasures photos from that event.

I know someone who got her mum a very posh hand embroidered silk handkerchief for her 90th.
I think a little party would be nice, some kind of experience will probably mean more at 90 than 'things'

When my grandpa was 90, one of his favourite presents was a beautiful photo frame with a picture of the family in. He was also given a birthday party by my mum (his only child) that he initially "didn't want to go to because he didn't want a fuss". Hmm.......... he didn't stop talking about it because he'd had such a great time!!! :D

It is difficult to buy presents for elderly people because they usually don't want or need much, a visit, a meal out if they are fit enough and photographs of loved ones always go down well.

  • Afternoon tea in a posh hotel :)

Friend organised this for her Mum and her friends with a limo to take them there, they were thrilled with it although I would point out that limo's aren't the easiest thing to get in and out of :(

    A strippergram :j
  • Many thanks to all of you for some good ideas.
I like all of them, even the strippergram, she is the type of person who would get great fun from that, not at all stuck up.
A nice soft throw or cushion and some family photographs sounds good.
Maybe a good bottle of whisky as she likes a wee dram before she goes to bed.
Her daughter has got the party all sorted. Going to a nice hotel for a meal.
Looking forward to it in a couple of weeks time.
