Boots self scan - quick question

Im breaking out tomorrow for a few hours and I'm trying to do a speed shop. Does anyone know if the boots self scan check outs accept high street vouchers or would I need to go to a real till?

Also I have a coupon that says I get 500 advantage points when I spend £50 in boots. Can I use this along with a £5 off fragrance voucher (I'm buying one of the fragrances on the list as a christmas gift).

You will be able to use the fragrance voucher and the 500 extra advantage points aslong as using the £5 voucher doesn't take your total spend under £50.

The self service tills do accept vouchers, there's a little slot to put them in, like at Tesco. There is normally an assistant supervising the tills anyway, and if there isn't they're normally turned off :)

Good Luck with the first outing!

I've been out twice before but only to the garden centre for an hour, tomorrow I'm getting a Starbucks!
  • You'd probably be faster going to a manned till. The self service tills in Boots are dreadful! The worst I've used. Especially if you want to pay with Advantage Card points, it goes bonkers every time! And they're so loud it's like being shouted at by your angry robot mum for not doing it properly :o

It's more because of the wheelchair, the regular ones are too high I think but self scans are shorter.

I'm not paying with points I'm paying by high street vouchers, would that be ok?

I think they would, they'l ask you to scan them and then probably just deposit them in the little slot. I know I've paid with coupons etc before without any problems.

Anyone else got 'The Great Escape' theme tune in their head now?:D

I can't help with yor Q's, sorry, I do use HS vouchers in Boots regularly but have only used them at manned tills. But I do hope you enjoy your few hours out and about.

I'm racking my brains to think as to whether you can use high street vouchers at the self checkout... What time are you going to be heading out? I can try and find out for you first thing when I get to work... (Boots head office...) Although I'm guessing you may not be able to check on here before you go... The only thing that I can think of as a possible sticking point is that you wouldn't be able to get change from a voucher so you may have to pay for the majority with vouchers then a small amount of cash to make up the difference, if that makes sense...

At the end of the day there will be a member of staff supervising the self scan tills, so I would just ask them. If you have to go to one of the main tills then I should hope that the staff will be helpful and accommodating to a customer in a wheelchair.

I hope you are recovering well and enjoy your day out!

I also found the self-scan machines at Boots to be a bit temperamental (as are the ones in M&S) - the ones in Tesco and Sainsbury's are much better, and they aren't so insistent about the "unexpected item in bagging area".

    :rotfl:so true!

I cringe when I'm at the other side of the store and can hear someone being told that their "card has been rejected, please try another payment method"

Good luck GlasweJen, hope you have fun.
