#149 can you put me down for a payment of £5.11
Just sold first item on eBay an empty iPhone box! In laws have just turned up with the surprise Christmas present. So that means they are paying for the Christmas present and I have an extra £200 to put towards my debt on payday.0 -
I've just found out that work have a scheme that offers us a reduced rate on some gift cards and Sainsbury's is on there. Might buy some of those and do my shopping with them, even 5% cheaper will help my shopping budget0

Well I used to work for Mr M - you buy stamps at £1 each. If you use your stamps in November or December you can get an extra £2, so for £98 in stamps you get £100.
Asda have a card scheme which you can add any amount onto - I do this and round up my shopping every week. You can save up to £144 and every year they have a 'bonus day' where you get an extra percentage - So if you've saved £49 you'll get an extra £1, at £97 you'll get £3 extra and if you've saved the maximum amount of £144 they give you £6. Its okay if you can shop on that specific day, but a pain in the bum if you cant. The other problem I find is that bonus day is always in November - which isnt great for food chopping fro Christmas. I use mine for toys for the children.Pay off all my debts before Christmas 2015 #165.0 -
Evening all!
Have sorted our xmas food shopping (with a little help from my sis) so that's one less thing to worry about - not being to eat between xmas and new year would be a bit less festive than I was hoping for!!
Returned a dress I'd decided I won't wear rather than just leaving it in my wardrobe for months then selling it for pennies on ebay - so £30 going back into my bank sometime soon! Means that I could pay another £20 to my CC:
£350/£1550 22.58%!! :T:T
Feels nice having it rounded down! I need to have another good look at my budget spreadsheet for next year though, I'm not sure my sums all add up so need to look into that! I've got a diary for next year for all my money stuff to go into (from the pound shop so very MSE!!) and I'm actually excited to start using it! :rotfl:

I have seen an exercise DVD double pack from the Shredder herself that is Jillian Michaels I am going to purchase soon. I am part way through her 30 day shred and it's EXCELLENT! Highly recommended for a fast start and then a continuation if and when you need it.
I really need a diary too, I am starting an open uni course in Feb so i'll need it for that :T
Hi Loubie lou ive got a diary that I wont use ( got several ) and some spare stamps so if you like you can pm your address and i'll send it to you. its a day a page but nothing special.#28 pay all your debts by Xmas 2019 £2682/7000:)

Hi mf0u1098,
When I lived in the UK I did the Asda card scheme twice and at that time I would put 144.00 on the card in November before the bonus day, and then when the bonus day had passed (as you say DorsetGirl is does fall in November, I think the 24th maybe) I would go back to Asda and get the 6.00 bonus put on the card, didn't have to do any Christmas shopping to get this. Then I would use the card as and when paying for shopping whenever I went to Asda.
Doing it this way I could save the 144.00 in an interest bearing account rather than giving it to Asda interest free.;)
This was 5 years ago so unless Asda have changed the rules this is what I would expect to do again if I wanted to do it.0 -
Thanks guys, you've really helped! Love the idea of keeping the money in a savings accounts to earn interest then paying it in at the last minute. I'm thinking of using Tesco as you only have to pay in £100 to get £6 back so it works out better than Asda. Or I could be greedy and use both Asda and Tesco and get an extra £12 in November! *cue vincent price greedy laugh...*New Debt Journey: Pay off £19,622.91 by 30th April 2015 :T
