Hiya,
Im looking at renting a shop to have a show room come training /workshop area.
Im wondering if anyone knows if I need a specific class of use to hold a workshop once a month?
Insurance etcc is all sorted with regards to quotes, correct cover etc it is literally to see if I need to ask special permission from planning
Whenever I ask planning I get vague and varied answers which leads me to believe they want me to apply for planning.
The property I have my eye on is A1 which covers me for retail/showroom but obviously doesnt state about holding workshops!

Hi,
I know of a craft shop in my area that holds craft workshops occasionally.
As far as I am aware they have A1 use and don't have any problems.
Perhaps the main use takes precedence.
good luck with your venture

There is a poster called "planning officer" who regrettably only posts infrequently, it maybe worth sending him a PM. He is a genuine planning officer.
As I am a strong believer in the "Millionaire" thread, I regret my fee for the above can be no less than (IMHO) a very reasonable £50,000.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
Thanks for the responses, also thanks for mentioning the craft shop hunnie - I should really have thought of that, I will ask other local shops
Thanks guys, yet again great help on here :-)trainee millionaire (aka not there yet!)0 -
No, that means they want you to not draw it to their attention or they will have to deal with it. You should be fine.
That would be my understanding as well. When I spoke to my local planning department about something they were basically saying don't ask us the question as then we have to give an answer and you may or may not like it. As it isn't a core part of your business I personally wouldn't ask them the question.0
