I'm buying this power protection device and it seems that it has sockets to insert your phone line as well. I'm not too clear what it is for. Can I actually use it a phone on this?

Purchased a Belkin surgemaster plus from Comet for about £25 which has 8 sockets on and the same connections for you phone and modem but I have not connected anything to them yet.
I presume the phone line socket just does the same as the plug socket and protects you froma surge0 -
Crikey i just bought the same thing fro ebay, and it cost me £10 with postage ! robbed again !
Yeah i got the lead thingy for a phone to be connected, havnt the foggest what its all about .0 -
It will protect your phones as well if you connect the lead supplied.
You can get surges down telephone lines just as easy.0 -
so as well as protecting my phone, I assume I can actually use a phone on this. Am I right?Sorry No Links in Signatures by Site Rules - MSE Forum Team 20

Should be a pair of phone sockets. Use one to connect a cable from phone socket in wall to the surge protector and the other to plug in your phone.
They were selling them in Aldi a few weeks ago, I recall. I think they were around £9.0 -
At the very least, get a good quality surge protector - Picking the Right Surge Protector.
Some people argue that surge protectors are not really worth it (especially if lightning strikes), with 'online' UPS systems providing the best protection - they can be shockingly expensive though! No pun intended

I have ordered 10 of these to use on all of the TVs, PCs and Playstations in the house, should be arriving on Monday.
Seem to be a bargain buy at the price, although IIRC they were only £1.99 when I ordered them last week which was even better.
Could easily make a tidy profit if I was to sell them on Ebay, as has already been shown.0
