Ahh, I had no idea such things existed!!!

I've found the installation/user manual which I'll have a read through tonight....

Can I just ask/confirm, should I be insulating all pipes on show (including the 15mm copper)?

I'll assume the overflow can be left?

Also with this system, would I be correct in assuming there should be no cold water tank in the loft (or at least none that's in use)?

Insulte the hot ones just to keep the heat in and prevent hands getting burnt. Those pipes will get very hot hence the blending valve to reduce the temperature. Forget the others.

    Cheers

  • Apologies for reviving an old thread (though it is mine).

What exactly is the water storage tank that is built into my thermal store for?

I've just noticed the cold water feed in to it is off (in fact it was in the picture on the prev page last August too!).

Should the cold water feed tap be on permanantly (I've taken a look and there is a ball !!!! in there, which 'appears' to be working)?

To top up the store if it needs it. When you say "appears" what does that mean? If you turn the supply on do you hear the valve passing water into the tank until the float arm comes up and stops the flow?

    Sorry, that's exactly right.

We've been in the hosue for 12 months, and I've never noticed this before. I looked in for the first time, and the level looked low to empty.

I turned the tap on, and the water level filled until the float arm came up and stopped the flow.

Leave it on then. Must admit that I hadn't spotted it in the off position last August. I've given myself 5 minutes on the naughty step.

    Cheers

Thanks for that, will do. :)

Can I ask what difference it makes (i.e. what it would affect being on/off)?

Is it feeding the central heating or hot water?[/STRIKE]

Ah, so it just tops up the hot water cylinder itself (meaning that cylinder may have been less than full up until now???)

  • yes it should be left on, the water in there keeps the cylinder & in turn your heating system full, sorry CY lol
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.
