Sky HD Sub - only £2.50 p/m for up to 12 mths (usually £10)

We have had Sky HD for over 12 months and just switched the HD subcription off, keeping just the normal definition channels.
They went off yesterday after the 30 day notice and today we got a call offering a 12 month offer of £2.50 for HD instead of £10 (no minimum term)
NB. the HD sub is not needed for the live pause, record features, which I never knew!

And you will still get many HD channels at NO extra cost, including but not limited to all the BBC HD channels, ITV1HD, Channel 4HD and Channel 5HD, as well as their SD versions (except BBC HD of course)
That's all I need in HD !
And you can download many BBC programmes in HD using BBC iPlayer.
This thread isn't really for you then, is it. Move along

The Rumour mill is rife with Sky abandoning its HD charge (as Virgin don't) so if you can, hold off - and see what the New Year brings. If the take up to the offer is low, it'll probably drop sooner - but I wouldn't put it past them to promote the 'deal' then end the charge after you've already paid!0

How do we go about actually getting an HD box from Sky? (We dont want the HD subscription.)
Recently our Sky+ box has been playing up with the Sky+ functionality not working sometimes and I had to reset and then lost all saved programmes. I did phone Sky reference this and they said an engineer was required and it would be £65,though they would try and see what they could do about the payment.
Can I use this as a reason to be given a Sky+ box?
Thanks,Wayne.0 -

The problem is though that rumours of Sky ditching the HD charge have been rife for at least two years now.
In all likelihood, they will eventually drop the HD charge but when they will do it is another matter.0 -

I too have had the letter, however whenever I go to my sky account the offer is not there, it still shows as being the full price so not sure what's going on there.0
