Before you bin them, try washing them in the machine. I know this sounds ridiculous but I washed my Just Sheepskin boots (pale sand colour and oil marked like yours) with a squirt of Stardrops on a 30 wool wash (and a bit of neat stardrops rubbed into the stain), air dried them, gentle soft brush when dry then sprayed them with suede protector. They aren't quite good as new but look miles better and certainly don't seem to have come to any harm. I've got them on now! Worth a try?
Edited to add - Sorry see this is just what you did! Ignore me.....

Thanks, I wont bin them anyway, I'll still wear them even if not on a daily basis just for doing stuff in the garden, walking the dog and so on, its a fitting end to a rubbish couple of weeks, roll on christmas discounts;)

Glowgirl, I'm so sorry! It worked for me so many times and I had followed others who had done the same thing on here! I can't believe it! They went hard? That just didn't happen to mine at all- I don't know what went wrong! I feel so bad!

How old were they? Do you think you could get anything back by contacting the website or even going back to the store? Maybe say that washing them had been fine in the past (in theory, mine were fine, I'd been following advice given by others whose boots had also been fine,) would wonder if they'd used different quality sheepskin or something? Mine have been throught the machine at least 3 times and are now 7 years old.

Look on the ASOS site today (sunday) as they have apparently got some offers on, I don't think I've seen any amazing offers for Uggs in the sales the way other brands have sales but I could be wrong and please don't rely on that.

This is exactly what I did (exept I used the normal supermarket silk and wool wash instead of stardrops). I think they must have changed the boots in some way as this I was able to repeat several times with no problems. I am so shocked- maybe if anyone asks in the future we should warn against that now. Just so odd- such a difference, I got a pair from Amazon in the summer in time for the colder weather and now seriously worried about what I do when they get dirty, they must have changed the skins they use in some way.

This is the third year I'm wearing these particular boots, I have gently hand washed them before and they were fine but this is the first time I've put sheepskin through the washing machine, I have to say that although I put the boots through on a wool wash I'm not 100% convinced my machine does what I tell it temperature wise, I decided to wash them myself though, no ones fault but mine and there was nothing else left for me to do anyway, thank you everyone for the help offered, I was on Ugg Australia yesterday there are some lovely lovely new styles;) but big bucks so I'm going to be good and wait until something comes up, I saw the ASOS thing on the shopping board, they are quite expensive to start with I felt, patience is not a virtue I am blessed with;)

eta- the sale on ASOS is actually very good, I want Ultra shorts this time which they dont have and also no sand colour in anything but the others are good value including accessories:)

  • I inadvertently dropped some cooking oil on mine too, very annoying, but tried the cornflour route and it did work after a few goes!

Also don't forget you have now got a great pair of boots to wear when it snows and you don't want to risk ruining your new Uggs :) They do get soaked through if there is too much snow or rain though.
