Setting up some kind of mini private 'forum'?

I'd like to look into setting up some kind of private forum to help organise and aid communication between committee members for a small charity.
Does anyone have any ideas for something to use that is quick to set up, easy to use and free?
Not too keen on Yahoo groups, what other options are there?
Thanks!

http://www.smfforfree.com/ free forum, last time I had one on there you had to have 1 board visible to the public though part of their t&cs. If that wasn't acceptable you could get your own hosting and just install forum software on to the hosting package.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

with google circles you can organise friends , workmates groups and determine who sees what and who can contact who , so it would be possible just to open an account for your group , or google docs or even with facebook0

Although I didn't set it up myself we used wikispaces to host discussions and store files to be accessed by everyone for a group exercise in my postgraduate course.0
